We figured we'd write up a little what to do at a comic book convention since we assume this will be the first for many. So we wanted to let you in on some of the fun stuff at Jet City Comic Show.

Meet the Creators:
We'll have around 100 different comic book creators (writers and artists) at the show this year. You'll have a chance to meet/talk with the guests as well as discover upcoming creators. Get autographs, sketches or find that unique comic book or product.

Peruse the Dealers:
Search for that rare comic book you've always dreamed about owning while diving into a variety of boxes of comics from one of our great dealers. Or find a comic book that you can then go and get signed from one of the guests.

In addition to comic books you'll find all kinds of pop culture items such as posters, toys, games, jewelery, DVDs and much more!

Publishers:
You'll find some publishers at the in Exhibitor Booths as well as in Artist Alley. This is a great way to find a new and unique comic book and possibly even meet the creators.

Panels:
Sit in on some interesting lectures at the show and learn about some cool things happening in the industry as well as learn about being a creator. Panels will be down on the 4th floor (exhibition hall is on the 5th floor).

Costumes:
Cosplay is becoming a cornerstone of comic book conventions all around the world. It's a great chance get dressed up and have your picture taken with fans. Not to mention it's a blast to get dressed up and being a part of the convention.

When getting your picture taken please try to be courteous to the dealers and stand off to the side rather than blocking the aisles.

Plus the costume contest with cash prizes!

Parties
I think we also have an after show party being put on by one of the local shops. We'll let you know details as soon as we can.

The night before the show we hold a Drink-n-Draw at the Harmon Brewery starting at 7pm for local creators to get away from their drawing boards/computers and socialize and support one another creatively.

Both are great ways to have fun and meet some new people.

Convention Exclusives:
Every year we have a JCCS merchandise table (attached to the ticket booth) where we have convention exclusives where the proceeds are donated to a charity - this year being the Wounded Warrior Project. We have prints from guests Shane White, Sean Dietrich and Rebekah Isaacs plus this year we'll have an exclusive t-shirt available.

There's also likely to be some creators in Artist Alley that'll have their own exclusives for the show. Keep an eye on our website and Facebook page for further details on that.

Free Stuff
We have two eight-foot tables at the entrance which will have business fliers (some including coupons), comic books, posters and more for you to snag up.

Plus if you're one of the first 200 attendees at the show you'll get a free print at the ticket booth from guest Michel Gagne then you can go over to his table and get it autographed.

We'll also have bags from our friends at Jet City Comics.

Gaming:
Not only are there dealers that sell board games, role-playing games, miniatures and collectible card games... we also have actual gaming at the show. Thanks to Nerdy Stuffs, we'll have tournaments for Magic the Gathering and Kaijudo, including chances to learn how to play.

New Friends
One of the cool things about a comic-con is that the exhibition hall is filled with people (young and old) who love pop culture and comic books. So it's a great opportunity to meet others with similar interests and hopefully build a great friendship.

The most important thing is to have fun!

Arts & Crafts with the Tacoma Art Museum
In the lobby the Tacoma Art Museum will be running an area devoted to arts and crafts for kids. They do lots of cool stuff like this at the Museum itself so look to have a lot of fun there.

Get Your Photo Taken with Cosplayers (Costumes):
501st Garrison Titans - Some of the best Star Wars costumes around, they'll have prints available. They are taking donations for the Wounded Warrior Project in the Lobby.

Also photos with the Dockyard Derby Dames, everyone loves roller derby! They'll also be taking donations for the Wounded Warrior Project in the Lobby.

Comics Forge will also have a photo booth to get your FREE picture taken with some of your favorite costume characters from Comic Book Characters for Causes!

Free Comics Books:
Comics4Kids, in the Lobby, will be giving away comics to children to promote literacy through comic books.

Face Painting:
In the lobby Jet City will be hosting some awesome face painters.

LEGO’s:
Also out in the Lobby will be a large LEGO display thanks to the folks at SeaLugs... no touching though.

Costume Contest:
Children's Costume Contest at 12:30pm with $50 for First Prize!

Find comic books based on some your childs favorite characters (My Little Ponies, Transformers and so on) at one of our dealer booths. Or toys, games and maybe even some DVDs.

Go over to artist alley and find some cool artwork, get a sketch, talk to one of the creators over there and maybe learn something new.

And as always the most important thing is to have fun!

Cosplay  Guidelines:

Footwear:
D. Footwear

Due to public health and safety requirements, all Members are required to wear approved footwear while in the convention space. Acceptable footwear includes shoes, sandals, flip-flops, aqua sox, and slippers. Unsafe or hazardous footwear is not allowed to be worn while in the convention center.

Weapons:
AA. Weapons

No Members will be permitted to carry any kind of functional projectile weapon. This includes individuals who possess a weapons permit or concealed weapons permit. Keep them at home. Anyone found in possession of such a weapon will immediately have their membership revoked. Individuals caught in the illegal possession of a functioning projectile weapon will be reported and turned over to the proper authorities. All other items that could be used as a weapon MUST be peacebonded.

You must have your props submitted for peacebonding. Complete this action BEFORE entering convention space. Peacebonding will be conducted at the peacebonding table. Government issued photo ID is required at peacebonding to have your prop peacebonded. Members seventeen and under must have their guardian or accompanying adult with them to have their prop peacebonded.

Bladed Weapons: All weapon props made out of metal and designed to represent a blade (including, but not limited to, swords, daggers, kunai, and scythes), with an edge a quarter of an inch in width or narrower and/or a sharply pointed tip) must remain sheathed. Additionally, it must be possible for peace-bonding staff to securely zip-tie the prop into its sheath so that it may not be drawn. Ribbons, cloth, or tape wrapped around the blade do not qualify as sheaths.

Weapons should never be waved around in a manner that may be construed as use of the weapon (this is considered brandishing).

Gun props or other prop projectile weapons should not be pointed at anyone at any time. Prop pistols need to remain in a holster; prop rifles need to be slung. Permanently disabled cap, nerf, and water guns are permissible.

Drawing a weapon (if it looks like a real gun we will assume it is) in the convention space, including parking lots, may result in immediate revocation of convention membership. Keep in mind, police will assume all drawn weapons are functional, and will act accordingly.

Exotic weapons will be dealt with on a case-by-case basis. Do not bring weapons that Show Staff and Secuirty cannot tell are fake from ten feet away.

Harassment Policy:
Harassment includes offensive verbal comments (related to race, gender, sexual orientation, body size, disability, appearance and religion), overly sexual images in public spaces, deliberate intimidation, stalking, harassing photography or recording, sustained disruption of talks or other events, inappropriate physical contact and unwelcome sexual attention.

If you feel harassed at Jet City, please see a staff member. Harassment of any sort will be dealt with. We want this convention to fun, family friendly, and about the comics. :)

Also Cosplay is Not Consent. To try and keep out/stop sexual harassment to convention attendees, both male and female.
